Pros
- Built specifically for HVAC/plumbing/electrical rather than a generic trades tool. The flat-rate pricebook goes directly at the inconsistent-estimating problem — a pricebook forces a standardized price per task or part regardless of who's quoting, which is a more rigid fix than a template. A template can still be filled out inconsistently; a locked pricebook can't.
- Mobile technician app plus dispatch board covers the field-notes side of the same consistency problem.
Cons
- Also quote-only pricing. The deep QuickBooks sync mainly pays off if the shop is already running QuickBooks as its core accounting system — less relevant otherwise.
- No hands-on trial done yet — worth confirming the pricebook is as rigid in practice as it sounds on paper.
If a team template still leaves room for estimator discretion to create inconsistency, FieldEdge's locked pricebook approach is a structurally stronger fix for that specific failure mode than a template-based tool like Joist.
