Who's behind this

We're The Service Truck Review, and we spent years on the office side of HVAC — estimating, project management, and service management. We're not software reviewers by trade; we're people who lived with the actual problems this software claims to solve: estimates that came out inconsistent depending on who wrote them, line items that got missed because nothing forced a second check, dispatch that turned into a guessing game, and field notes that swung between "exactly what happened" and nothing useful at all.

Why this site exists

Most "best HVAC software" content online is written by people who've never written an estimate or dispatched a tech — generic SEO content, or a software company's own blog ranking its own product first. We wanted something different: a resource built by people who actually understand the job these tools are supposed to make easier, being straight about what's genuinely useful and what isn't.

How we evaluate software

Every tool review on this site is labeled with how it was evaluated — we don't blur the line between the two:

  • Tested firsthand — we actually signed up and used the tool, usually via its free trial, before writing about it.
  • Evaluated from industry experience — we haven't personally run the tool day-to-day, but the review is grounded in real HVAC estimating/dispatch/service-management experience, not a generic feature-list rewrite. We say so plainly rather than implying hands-on testing that didn't happen.

Pricing and feature data is dated on every tool page ("pricing last verified") — software pricing changes, and we'd rather show our work than let stale numbers quietly go wrong. If you spot something outdated, let us know.

Contractor reviews

Below our own review on every tool page, other HVAC contractors can submit their own rating and comments. Every submission is read and approved before it goes live — not to filter out criticism, but to keep spam and fake reviews out. See our affiliate disclosure for how this site makes money.
